Jesus was given the title of Prince of Peace by the prophet Isaiah. Think about it, Christ governs peace.
The very origin of peace is found in Christ. Upon his birth Jesus brought peace and when He departed and ascended to the Father, He left peace behind. Peace is more than the absence of conflict. Peace, or Shalom, conveys wholeness and completion, as well as divine serenity.
“Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything,” -PRAY- “continue to make your wants known to God. And God’s peace shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4: 6-7 AMP).
The peace of God transcends all understanding. Meaning peace rises above, surpasses, exceeds and outdoes turmoil, fear, and anxiousness. Don’t let anxiety get the best of you, talk to God! God’s peace guards your heart and mind. Once more, we see the governing power of the Prince of Peace at work. Peace garrisons your heart and mind; it is a divine blockade against outside forces and internal turmoil. Peace wages war against the enemy of your soul.
We become anxious because we don’t understand and we have lost our means of control. We become out of sorts! However, we are instructed to be anxious for nothing! Worry is a waste of time and energy. Worry leads to defeat, not victory. Stress is a controlling agent, it debilitates, confines and causes confusion and despair.
Recently I cried out to God, “I don’t understand!” His reply, “You don’t have to understand.” (I received a holy BAM, from the great I AM!) There are times when life is uncontrollable, that is when we turn to the One who controlled the sea and the waves. Lives were in jeopardy, danger surrounded them, it was a perilous situation - Jesus stepped up! The sea raged, the disciples feared for their lives, Christ rose and rebuked the seas and the waves commanding “Peace, Be Still!” The Prince of Peace rebuked the chaos, and a wonderful and great calm arrived. Oh sweet, yet fierce serenity, may you reign and rule.
Peace be with you.
